The Passport Program Gives Back to Local Community

Did you know that every Myrtle Beach Golf Passport membership purchased is also giving back to the local community? Since 1993, the Passport program has donated more than $1.5 million back into the local golf market.

It’s true! A portion of every purchase of a membership is used to fund a number of different local initiatives like scholarships and growing the game.

Here are just a few of the organizations we support.

Coastal Carolina Men’s Golf Team

If you’ve been following men’s NCAA golf this season, you may have heard that Coastal Carolina qualified for the NCAA Men’s Golf Regional Tournament for the first time since 2013. We couldn’t be more proud of those young men, who not only represent Coastal Carolina but the Myrtle Beach area as well.

Each year, the Passport program is a sponsor for the CCU men’s team. The money goes to help pay for equipment, travel and other related expenses throughout the year. Without funding from area programs and businesses like the Passport, these young men would not have the opportunities they currently receive.

Brunswick Community College

For many years, we’ve funded an endowment program for students at Brunswick Community College who are enrolled in their Turfgrass Management Program. In 2018, nine students will be the recipients of $9,000 in scholarship money.

The best part of this initiative is that most of the students in this program go on to work at local courses in the area!

First Tee

Growing the game has always been an important mission for the Passport program, as we know how important it is to pass the game on to future generations. Because of this, we partner each year with area First Tee programs as a sponsor to ensure its dedicated staff members have the resources they need to create an engaging teaching program for local kids.

Veterans Golf Classic

Heading into its 19th year, the Veterans Golf Classic has become one of the marquee golf events in Myrtle Beach. This special event brings together members of our armed forces, past and present, for a few days of laughter and fun.

This year, we are again a presenting sponsor for this sold-out event!

As you can see, the Passport program takes great pride in giving back to the local community, and we couldn’t do it without the many members who make up our great program.
