The newest and sleekest of The Big Cats courses at Ocean Ridge Plantation - Leopard's Chase - is also one of the best layouts along the Grand Strand and in all the Carolinas.
This Tim Cate masterpiece was ranked among America's best new courses by both Golf Magazine and Golf Digest upon its opening in 2007 and has only gotten better with age. Cate made spectacular use of his trademark coquina boulders, ringing several of the large, undulating greens, including the signature 18th, which also features a cascading waterfall and a massive beach bunker guarding the fairway.
While the closing holes offer a breathtaking finish, the front nine at Leopard's Chase is just as memorable, highlighted by the par 3 fourth, a traditional island green surrounded by water, and the Par 4 fifth, with its ultra slick bentgrass putting surface completely enveloped by sparkling sugar sand, creating an island green of a different variety.
Among the most fearsome and fetching attributes of Leopard's Chase, which was just ranked among the Top 10 Public Courses in North Carolina by Golfweek Magazine, are the abundant water features, waste bunkers and environmentally sensitive areas that also help frame this dynamic layout and create a dazzling array of scenic vistas that will be found around every virtually corner throughout your round.
