There are few better ways to start the New Year than with a great round of golf, and the Grande Dunes Resort Course is one of the best the Myrtle Beach area has to offer.
The Roger Rulewich design, which has seven holes that play along the Intracoastal Waterway, is spectacular from the start.
Golf Digest has ranked Grande Dunes among “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses” and it’s hard to argue with the lofty ranking after playing a layout that manages to challenge every facet of a skilled golfer’s game while being playable for mid to high handicappers.
The fairways are some of the area’s most generous, and the impeccable greens are expansive, averaging 9,500 square feet per putting surface.
What you will leave the course raving about are the holes set along the Intracoastal, especially the par 3 14th, which plays from an elevated tee box to a green that rests along the Waterway. The view is stunning and the tee shot is exhilarating. If you want to make the case No. 14 is the area’s best par 3, you are on firm ground.
By any measure, Grande Dunes is an outstanding course, one you owe it to yourself to play.
