Celebrating its Golden Anniversary, Litchfield is Better Than Ever

Litchfield is a South Strand classicLitchfield Country Club, the first course to open in Pawleys Island, was one of the Grand Strand’s trailblazing layouts. Over the years, Litchfield has acquired some high profile company, but this classic design has always maintained its place in market, delivering a high quality round of golf and great value.

The course is fully mature, allowing players to enjoy the splendor of Live Oak trees draped in Spanish moss and the impeccable landscaping that contributes to the quality of golf. Unlike many contemporary designs that reward raw power, Litchfield, without taking the driver out of your bag, is a thinking man or woman’s layout.

The course has several doglegs and the greens, which aren’t elevated, are open in the front, bringing greater strategy into play. Players can utilize their creativity and that is at the heart of Litchfield’s appeal.

On a course that isn’t overly long, the par 3s, all of which play at least 165 yards from the white tees, are the most challenging collection of holes. Meanwhile, the par 5s, none of which are longer than 502 yards, will give you opportunities to make birdies.

Litchfield, which is celebrating its 50th birthday this year, is the type of course you could play every day.
