Don’t Judge Diamond Back by its Name

Diamondback is a hidden gemThe old saying warns people not to judge a book by its cover. In the case of Diamondback at Woodland Valley, it’s best not to judge a golf course by its name.

Despite what some perceive as an ominous name, what you will remember Diamondback for is friendly customer service and a layout that is more forgiving than expected.

Much of Diamondback’s charm resides in two things the course doesn’t have – homes and parallel fairways. Once you leave the clubhouse, you won’t see anyone but the guys in your group and the cart girl.

Diamondback is relatively tight and all 18 holes are tree-lined, but that doesn’t mean you have to split a fairway that’s only marginally wider than Taylor Swift’s waist line. The course’s fairways have plenty of width, but if you spray the ball badly, it will be a long day.

The layout plays 6,405 yards from the tips, so you don’t need to pound the driver off every tee. Take a club you can hit in the fairway and enjoy the diversity of the challenge of Diamondback at Woodland Valley.
